This is the first part of a series I'll be doing about must-have products for different looks. I figured I'd start with the minimal makeup look because it's probably the easiest look to achieve and one that would work for everyone, no matter your makeup skill level. These products are approachable and easy to use. They're my go-to products for my everyday minimal makeup look.
I prefer to use concealer over a light coverage foundation, tinted moisturizer/BB cream. So many people think they need more coverage than they really do. On an every day basis, you really only need to cover small areas of discoloration. For me, under my eyes, around my nose and chin are my "problem areas." I also use concealer on any spots, as needed. My favorite right now is Glossier Stretch Concealer because it's fantastic at blending into your skin. People who prefer a more matte finish would be better off with Maybelline Age Rewind. I also really like Maybelline Dream Lumi for a YSL Touche Eclat dupe.
2. Brow Gel
I think all brows look better with a little bit of TLC and lately I've been relying on Glossier Boy Brow in blond for a really natural look. Even when I'm not wearing anything else, I've been swiping this on to give my face a little more framing. If you are blessed with full brows, I suggest trying their clear gel just to keep those babies in place. Read all about brows here.
3. Shimmery Eye Shadow
To give your eyes a little pop, I love swiping a light colored shimmery shadow on the lid. The color shouldn't be too different than your skin, but you just want the shimmer to catch the light, giving your eyes a bit of interest. It doesn't take any time at all and I find the subtly makes a big difference. I really like the Rose shade in the Lorac Pocket Pro 2 Palette, which can be used for lots of other looks too. The shade Chopper by Urban Decay Single Shadows is beautiful too.
A little blush goes a long way. It brings that youthful glow back into your face--without an ounce of sparkly highlighter. I love using a cream blush on a daily basis because it's so fast and easy to blend, especially on my slightly drier skin. Stila Convertible Color is my go-to for cream (I even use it on my eyes) and I can't resist Milani Rose Blush for it's pretty packaging and natural looking colors. Read more about blush here.
5. Lip Balm
Lastly, I love using a tinted lip balm on the daily. I've never been a big bold lipstick person, especially when I want a more natural no-makeup look, a more sheer or light color is the best way to go. I really love Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Smashed. It's pretty sheer and not too glossy either. Just gives that little punch of color and hydration my lips need. I don't mind and probably prefer reapplying lip products throughout the day; it's like a mini pick me up that I enjoy. The list of lip products I like goes on and on and on, so I'll just leave you with my absolute all around favorite balm.
