Eyeliner is a quick and easy way to instantly elevate your makeup look but it can be intimidating to try drawing a perfectly smooth, thin line on your eye. That's why it's not surprising when someone tells me they're nervous about applying eyeliner. Here are my tips to applying eyeliner (it's as easy as one, two, three!):
1. Press a pencil liner into the base of the lashline, creating dots or small dashes. Try to resist the urge to make a complete line! Place the dots/dashes close to one another, touching or almost touching. Concentrate the color right at the root of your lashes.
2. Use an angle brush with dark eye shadow on top of those dots and dashes. Instead of connecting the dots, use the same motion as before--sort of massaging the shadow into the lashline. This smooths out the pencil liner, giving you a really soft line.
3. As a general rule, whatever you put on the top of your eye, you do half of that on the bottom. So don't even bother with the pencil here. Just take whatever eye shadow is left on your angle brush and stamp it on the lower outer corner of your eye. Drag a clean fluffy blending brush from the outer corner inward.
If you use this technique, you'll be left with really soft definition. If you want something more intense, choose darker colors but this can be done with any color or shade you'd like. It's a very versatile technique that can take you easily from day to night. I hope this helps take the fear out of applying eyeliner. As always, if you need more help, I'm here for you.
